On March 10, 2021, afterschool practitioners joined Prime Time for an exciting virtual edition of the Amazing Out-of-School Time Race! The morning started at 9:00 a.m. where attendees were welcomed with a warm greeting and then divided into seven teams and placed in break out rooms where they were greeted by Prime Time facilitators, who brought them through a friendly competition that included: popular games such as Charades, Family Feud, Password and bingo with a focus on positive youth development.
With social and emotional learning still in mind, this interactive adaption engaged practitioners in fun, energizing activities that help cultivated equitable learning environments for children and youth, a necessary component for success in the out-of-school time field.
After all seven teams completed the games, Prime Time announced the winners of the Amazing OST Race, who will receive e-gift cards, and opened the floor to practitioners to reflect. Here is what they had to say:
“I really needed this energy, I was feeling burnt out.”
“It’s always fun to see the Prime Time trainers.”
“This event was even better virtual than in-person.”
“I had so much fun, I didn’t know how they (Prime Time) was going to make this fun virtually and you guys did a great job.”
I loved the effort, you at Prime Time put in!”
“Very Organized.”
“I’m not a virtual person, but I had fun!”
