Fungi, Algae, and Lichen, Oh My!

This exploration will include searching and identifying fungi, algae and lichen. We will use the app called “Picture Mushroom” or Google Lens. Children will explore how fungi develop and grow. A simple science experiment will be done to grow lichen!  

Materials:

• a rock found outside, porous (ideally the size of your palm or a little bigger
• a spray bottle (optional)
• milk (¼ cup)
• paper towel or paper plate to protect surface where children will work
