Prime Time is recruiting afterschool programs in Palm Beach County that are interested in incorporating science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) into their afternoons this fall! Prime Time’s STEAM Initiative includes a series of six trainings that will start on September 27, 2019. The series will give afterschool practitioners the tools and lessons they need to introduce STEAM through interactive learning experiences to the children and youth in their programs.

Research shows that participation in STEM-focused afterschool programs leads to major, positive changes in students’ attitudes toward science. More than 70% of students reported positive gains in areas such as STEM interest, STEM identity, STEM career interest and career knowledge, and 21st -century skills, including perseverance and critical thinking.

Prime Time’s STEAM specialist will guide and support afterschool professionals the entire length of the Initiative through one-on-one support, site visits, feedback, incentives and more. The goal of the STEAM Initiative is to give children opportunities to learn and engage in STEAM-related activities that will open their minds to new interests, promote problem-solving, and creative and analytical thinking.
