This summer, the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, a Prime Time partner, put together 1,500 Brain Food literacy kits through its Read! Lead! Succeed! and Stories & STEM programs. The screen-free packets provided children with books and supplies for engaging experiences in social emotional learning (SEL) or science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Packets were distributed through food distribution lines at a variety of locations across the county. With the packets, youth were able to feed their their brains in addition to their tummies! One lesson allowed kids to explore the world of magnetism with “Magnets Push, Magnets Pull” by Dave Adler. They even learned how to make a working water compass. The Literacy Coalition worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County and Living Hungry to make this unique opportunity come to life.
Stories & STEM is made possible with support from Prime Time Palm Beach County, Inc., which receives significant funding for its overall operations from the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County.
