Boys & Girls Club Marjorie S. Fisher is lucky to have afterschool professional LaTricia Jenkins, an out-of-school time veteran of 18 years! Jenkins enjoys being able to make a powerful difference in the lives of youth. She loves to build healthy positive relationships while mentoring and guiding them to live healthy lifestyles. She is truly the heart of afterschool.
Prime Time Palm Beach County supports and scholarships out-of-school time professionals who have a passion for youth development and are seeking educational opportunities to learn and grow to ultimately make a greater impact on the children whom they serve. LaTricia’s purpose for beginning Prime Time’s Youth Development Pathway is to help the children who she works with graduate high school and become good people as adults.
“I have a strong desire to see youth reach their full potential as productive and caring citizens.”
– Latricia Jenkins, Afterschool Director, Boys and Girls Club Marjorie S. Fisher
LaTricia began taking the 40-Hour School Age Certification and then moved on to complete the School Age Professional Certificate, Staff Credential and Director Credential. As she moved through the pathway achieving each goal one-by-one, she moved onto the credit pathway where she recently completed the Youth Development College Credit Certificate last year and is now working towards the Associate Degree at Palm Beach State College in Human Services-Youth Development.
LaTricia stated that obtaining education keeps her aware of the changes that are happening with our youth in this present time and allows her to gain knowledge on how to support youth and their development. The benefits for LaTricia include obtaining more knowledge as she continues her profession in youth development and the opportunity to share the knowledge with her team.
“I would like to add that without the support and partnership through Prime Time I would not be able to continue my journey to a higher level of education. Because of the scholarships that I receive and with the guidance and lead of Elisa & Nicole I don’t feel pressured at all, but I am excited to see my accomplishments to the end.”
