Working with LGBTQ Youth in Afterschool – Part 1
LGBTQ+ youth are more likely to be bullied and cyberbullied, less likely to feel safe in school and more likely to consider and attempt suicide (2015 Youth Risk Behavior Survey administered in Palm Beach County Schools).
Creating a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth in afterschool programs starts with adults who work with youth understanding basic facts about gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation.
Join Compass Community Center and Prime Time to learn about these concepts and become an ally for LGBTQ youth to create a safe, inclusive environment where LGBTQ youth can grow and thrive.
Working with LGBTQ Youth in Afterschool – Part 2
The part 2 follow-up training will provide participants with practical strategies to support LGBTQ youth in afterschool settings feel safe and included.
