The Science of Art in Nature

Participants will focus on the science and art in nature through guided journaling. Art skills are not required. First, make your own journal from upcycled household items, then explore the natural world and some science all around us. Adventure into field biology and learn to observe the magic in nature, tricks and tools used to sketch and the vocabulary to write notes that will help ensure remembering plants, insects and wildlife.   

 The Science and Art in Nature: Promotes creativity and self-expression, connects youth to the natural environment, using journaling, sketching and ethogram techniques to observe nature from a new vantage point. 

 

Materials:

  • 5-7 sheets of paper
  • 2 pieces of cardboard (can use cracker or cereal boxes) or a blank notebook.
  • Hole punch
  • 1 piece: yarn, twine, ribbon or shoelace
  • Glue
  • Stapler
  • Pencil
  • Colored Pencil or Crayons
