Online Courses

In addition to traditional ‘classroom-based’ trainings, Prime Time offers self-paced online courses, listed below, that cover the basics of starting an afterschool program, introduce the Palm Beach County Quality Standards for Afterschool, and teach afterschool professionals the basics of program self-assessment using the Palm Beach County-Program Quality Assessment (PBC-PQA).  All Prime Time courses are offered free of charge.

Getting Started in Afterschool:

This course has four sections that provide basic program startup information every afterschool program administrator should know.  It provides resources around afterschool policies and procedures; informs administrators of the necessary steps to become a licensed child care facility in Palm Beach County; details how to create mission, vision, and values statements for your afterschool program; and provides guidance on effective hiring practices and policies.

Quality Standards for Afterschool:

This course is an introduction to the Palm Beach County Quality Standards for Afterschool.  The five quality standards: solid organizational framework, supportive ongoing relationships, positive and inclusive environment, challenging learning experiences, family outreach and involvement are introduced and explored through this interactive course.

Palm Beach County-Program Quality Assessment (PBC-PQA) Basics:

This 3 - 5 hour course introduces the Palm Beach County Quality Standards for Afterschool and the Palm Beach County-Program Quality Assessment (PBC-PQA) tool.  The PBC-PQA tool is used to measure the quality standards in an afterschool program; it is a set of scorable items which includes indicators of best practices in afterschool programs and other out-of-school time environments for children and youth. The PBC-PQA online course, along with the PBC-PQA tool, will guide afterschool programs to self-assess the quality of their activities and thereby identify professional development needs. This course is only available to programs participating in Prime Time's QIS. Contact your Quality Advisor for registration requests.
